Past Monserrate the road leads west for 3 km (2 miles) to the small village of Colares, which is associated with the locally produced red wine. The town, its winding streets alive with colorful flowers and trees, is also known for a parish church adorned with ceramic tiles and a main square bordered by 18th-century houses.
